Hereโs One Reason Why Your Content Might Not Inspire Actions

A CTA is a simple yet powerful reminder for the readers to perform a specific act after reading a piece of information.
"Buy now!"
You've definitely seen these CTAs everywhere, online and offline. But for some reason, in the social development sector, it's rarely used beyond promotional posts such as event invitations or awareness campaigns.
Why is that?
In B2B writing, one of the first things I learned was to ensure that I conclude my content, whether it's a sales email or a blog post (including some social posts), with a CTA.
Forgetting to include a CTA is a grave sin. I'm not exaggerating.
And since CTAs are so powerful, it made me wonder: How can organisations or leaders working in social development benefit from CTAs?
One thought that comes to mind is not to treat CTAs as if you have a CTA quota. You don't.
Use it more often.
Depending on the purpose of your post and whose attention you're trying to win, include CTAs in your social posts. Whether it's to rally support, attract potential funders, or establish strategic partnerships, make it crystal clear what you expect readers to do.
Social development is one of those sectors where working in silos won't get you anywhere. The pathway to achieving positive change is littered with gaps that can be bridged through building partnerships and securing resources.
So if these are some of the gaps that exist in your journey towards social change, why not make it explicitly clear the action that you want your readers to take at the end of your social post?
"If you're a private organisation that's looking into investing for positive change - comment below!"
"Are you looking for a strategic partner that's also working towards improving the lives of so-and-so community? DM us now!"
The point is that you don't have to wait for a big special announcement to remind your readers of the action you want them to do.
As long as your post is targeted to a specific audience, you're good to go.
Does it work? It doesn't hurt to try.
If CTAs have been such a core writing practice in the B2B or B2C sector where the goal is to influence people's behaviour, why not adopt the same practice for social change?
So, what is stopping you from including CTAs in your posts?
