Yes, these are valid questions. And it's true, your website should be the platform to introduce your organisation.

But it shouldn't be the first information presented when visitors land on your website.

Perhaps, back in 2000, the best practice for a website was to plaster the homepage with everything and anything about your organisation.

But not anymore, it's an outdated practice, your visitors' browse differently now..

Your audience is interested in the work that you do, and they don't care about your organisation just yet.

Remember this mantra: People don't care about your organisation unless you're posting  jobs or funding opportunities.

So instead, let your work do the talking โ€“ impress the visitors with your latest projects or news. Create a cool way to present your impact numbers. Showcase your most exciting and engaging photos.

Let the visitors know what you've been up to lately.

These are the key elements that keep visitors engaged and encourage them to explore your website, which should be your website's primary objective.

And the best part is, you most likely have all these materials that you need to enhance your website. They just need to be unearthed under all the different pages and sections and rearranged in the right order.

So what's the right order?

If you have sections such as Latest News or Featured Stories that require visitors to go through a dropdown menu to access them, fix that and move them to the Landing Page.

Keep all the information about your organisation tucked in their respective sections.

So as soon as visitors arrive on your website, the first thing they'll see is your latest projects.

It creates an experience and feeling that your website is dynamic because of the regularly updated and relevant content.

So instead of greeting them with the old-fashioned "Hi, we are XXX and we are committed to XXX. Please meet our trusteesโ€ฆ", greet your visitors with the cool stuff that you've been up to recently.

And chances are, they will want to know more about your organisation after that.

It's all about communicating information that matters to your audience.
